PM’s Infrastructure Blueprint: Solar, Sanitation, and Mega Ports

The Prime Minister reviewed key national infrastructure initiatives, including the Ken–Betwa River Interlinking Project and the implementation progress of Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0, with a strong emphasis on accelerating execution timelines and improving on-ground outcomes.

A significant focus of the review was the faster adoption of renewable energy in urban India, particularly the expansion of rooftop solar installations across residential areas, cities, and public institutions. The Prime Minister also highlighted innovative applications of solar infrastructure over canal networks to optimise land use, reduce evaporation losses, and generate clean energy simultaneously.

In discussions on infrastructure development, he underscored the importance of transforming the upcoming Vadhavan Port into a fully integrated multi-modal logistics hub, with seamless connectivity through coastal shipping, inland waterways, highways, freight corridors, high-speed rail, and airports.

On urban sanitation, the Prime Minister emphasised the need for measurable outcomes under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 and called for faster completion of waste management infrastructure, including GOBARdhan plants. A new monthly review mechanism for social sector schemes at the state level was also introduced, with Swachh Bharat Mission selected as the first focus area to strengthen accountability and improve implementation efficiency across states and districts.
